The Regions of the Continental Domains
The Continental Domains represents the constitutional relation that exists between the Continental Union and the Continental Alliance. The Sovereign Authority represents the common founder concept personified by Imperator Rex, founder of both regions and any regions thus founded in the future. Each Region has its own identity even though they share a common Founder. This relationship functions much like the RL relationship that exists between the United Kingdom and the nations referred to as the Commonwealth Realms. They have a common monarch, but they are each sovereign nations independent of each other.
The Continental Union was founded on 20 February 2010, and the Continental Alliance was founded on25 June 2010. Each region functions as separate entities with certain common functions and activities for both regions managed by one region or the other for the sake of operations and administrative efficiency and simplicity. Why re-invent the wheel?
The Continental Union serves as a protective power for the Continental Alliance in many areas of Diplomatic Relations. From time to time the Continental Alliance chooses to conduct its own foreign relations separate from the Continental Union. The Continental Union has a "Regional Government," whereas the Continental Alliance is set up like a large corporation. It is managed by the Continental Trust whose Board of Directors serves as a regional government of sorts.
The Continental Alliance operates the Regional Economy, and a Customs Union arrangement exists between the Continental Union and the Continental Alliance. The Continental Alliance maintains virtual business entities and banks that operate in both regions and fund Continental Union Regional Government activities. The Union provides extra-regional support for both regions and maintains RPG boards in which members of both regions can participate regardless of citizenship.
Both Regions conduct most of their activities on the Unified Regional Forum that was originally established for use by the Continental Union and other affiliates at the time. The Continental Alliance has separate boards for its RPGs and government activities. Members of either region are permitted to obtain dual citizenship, which allows them full participation in both regions (including becoming regional officers in either region).
