Lil' Johnny Meets Barack
Barack Obama was visiting a primary school and he visited one of the classes. They were in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings. The teacher asked the president if he would like to lead the discussion on the word 'tragedy'. So our illustrious president asked the class for an example of a 'tragedy'.
One little boy stood up and offered: "If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs over him and kills him, that would be a tragedy." "No,' said Obama, 'that would be an accident." A little girl raised her hand: "If a school bus carrying 50 children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy."
"I'm afraid not,' explained Obama. 'That's what we would call great loss." The room went silent. No other children volunteered. Obama searched the room. "Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?"
Finally, at the back of the room, Little Johnny raised his hand. In a quiet voice he said: "If the plane carrying you and Mrs. Obama was struck by a 'friendly fire' missile and blown to smithereens, that would be a tragedy."
"Fantastic!' exclaimed Obama. 'That's right. And can you tell me why that would be tragedy?" "Well,' says Johnny, 'It has to be a tragedy, because it sure as hell wouldn't be a great loss... and you can bet your ass it probably wasn't an accident either."
I have to let you all know that I am still not sure how I will vote this November, but it seems that nearly everyone I come in contact with has copious quantities of Obama jokes and almost nothing about Mitt Romney. It is not from want of trying that I cannot find anything about Mr. Romney that is as funny as the ones I get about the president.

This is so true! They always seem to post funnier things about the person in office than the candidates trying to be elected to office. In Mexico they have created all kinds of mean emails and YouTube clips about the new president coming in. He has embarrassed himself a lot already with speeches he has made in English and his lack of advanced education. He reminds me almost of George Bush because he acts like he is oblivious to things around him.
This is proof of things changing in Mexico. If anyone sent these kinds criticizing materials about the president 15 or 20 years ago, they would end up in jail for imaginary charges or worse. I remember a humorous program I watched when I was in high school that had many satire skits about the government and politicians. They were very critical about the governement and the president. The authorities had the network cancel the show and prevented the comedians for finding work for several years.

Lol I don't think Mitt Romney needs jokes pointed at him. His existence is enough of one that you can't add anything to it.

It's not often I 100% agree with you but I really agree with your impression of Mitt Romney. He's just another rich WASP who's got no real idea of what the "little people" are doing or how they are coping with a bad economy. He's been real good about saying President Obama is doing everything wrong but I don't think he himself can figure out what to do or do anything more than what the president is doing.

Ya you're pretty much right about that assessment Marz We've had a few politicians like that in Canada, where they say everything their opponent has done is wrong, but honestly they don't know what they would do differently

Will anyone see the Presidential Debates? This will be a good way to figure out who is saying what and clarify some of the points people are not sure about.
Marzano! I saw a YouTube clip of President Elect Nieto making a speech in English. I am not sure where he was at the time but he made many mistakes. He stuttered a couple of times and he had a very difficult time pronouncing some of the longer words. It was embarrassing. Even two times that he could not pronounce something, you can hear him saying "chin...!" For those who don't speak Spanish, "Chin..." is short for "chingado" which is the equivalent of the "F" word in English.

Ha! The debates were bloody hilarious. It was like two twelve year olds mincing around in circles on their first date, or a cat treading daintily through a puddle after a rainstorm. They both positively oozed cordiality with daggers in their teeth. I was chuckling through most of their oh-so-solemn announcements.
That said, I think Barry wasn't really up to snuff. The old boy looked like he really needed a nap.
And Nieto really is a poor bastard; if only English wasn't a language that effected the country then he would be right as rain. I've only every used chingar in the context of chinga tu madre, but it sure does come in handy every time I travel overseas!

Those debates are further proof that Obama's not in the driver's seat. He does what he's told and based on what I saw of the debates last week, I don't think they tell him everything's that's going on. What was it TRE posted about one of the officer candidates on here? Something about voting for X is voting for the status quo. I don't know if I trust Mitt but he'll get my vote because I don't want to vote for the status quo.

Obviously, I'm not an Obama supporter but even so, I have to say I was a little disappointed in Obama's performance in the debates. I thought he had it "going on!" I guess he's a clueless as I always imagined.

Eh, I was always effectively guaranteed to vote for Mitt: I'm a rich bastard, he's a rich bastard, our interests in protecting our ill-gotten gains coincide nicely. Barry doesn't really like me having, yknow, money.
That said, mocking Obama is about eighty times easier than making jokes about Romney screwing seven secret wives. Even after the Yellow Peril incident.

I like how you say it! I myself am a little embarrassed on Pres Obama's performance in the debates. He seemed distracted and I think he might have been a little intimidated by the whole thing. I don't really think he lost anything because of it. Isn't there another one scheduled here soon?

I'm just glad the debates brought Romney closer with Obama. Would hate to see that useless man just waltz back into office

So, you'd be a Romneyite if you were a gringo then, huh? Hey, I've got a question for you Canadian folk. The Mexicans call us gringos and gabachos. What do the Canadians call us (besides arrogant and pushy)? I've always wanted to know. Do you guys call the Brits poms or limies, or am I relying on my parents' unupdated slang?

In Canada we actually like the British for the most part (aside form Quebec) so we don't really have to much slang that I've heard. We normally just call em Brits Amercians there is an unending amount of insults. Suffice to say no one really likes em But as far as I know we don't really have any exact term....at least not that I know...
