Here is your debate question inspired by a new member, Furious Winds:
I saw some postings on the region of Islam situation. It looks like we are going above and beyond to help them but they dont seem to return the favor or wont respond to our emails. How would you mediate something like that?

I'd have to say, "If you really want to do something, you'll find a way to get it done." The opposite can be said for when you really don't want to do something. I've seen a lot of really small regions (alot of them with just 1 or 2 nations) reqing embassies with every region in Nationstates for no reason than to have embassies with everyone. We need to stop doing things like that.
In the case of Islam, it looks like they've already resolved the issue. If it were still ongoing, then I'd do just like Adriaticus did. We attempted to contact you, you didn't respond. We made a public post and no one still responded. We did what we promised and you didn't. So, we withdraw our mission and call it macaroni. We should never have put ourselves in this position to begin with. We all want to be nice but that only goes so far. Others take advantage of it with no intentions of following through. We don't have time for that. We want to get good allies who'll help us and make a presence just like we will with them.

I'd have to disagree a little on this. You can't expect to gain influence by being too hard ass about things. No one likes a hard head or a bully. That region was invaded, taken over, liberated and then went through reconstruction. I agree that if we make agreements with other regions, we need to make sure both parties live up to the agreement. I can't say Imp made a bad decision on this, because I don't think he did. The timing and situation were not ideal. Yes, I would have pulled out by now because we couldn't contact the admin for that region. If they don't respond there's not much you can do.

I think Exarchos made a better statement. You can't let these foreigners walk all over you. That's what's happened with the U.S. We were too nice to alot of these countries that bag on us in the UN and demonstrate against us. We gotta show them some cajones!

This may probably be true but many times the US knows already that they deal with many countries that can be anti-American. The US gives aid to them to have influence with them for political reasons. You must look at these things as case by case.

Here are my opinions:
Good response Exarchos.
Marzano, you could have done a little better. At the end you kind of said the same thing as EX.
Drago is right about the US. We don't care if you like us, we just want you to do what we tell you. That is the reason why we prop up all those corrupt and oppressive govts in poor countries that hate us.

OK. We need to get back to the topic. So, you both agree with what happened in Islam. The real question is how to prevent it. You both say "follow the laws." Is that your only answer?

In both their defenses you can't always prevent things like this and laws for this kind of thing shouldn't be too short sighted. There will always be some exception to the rule and it's hard to tell when you'll pull it off and when it'll go sour.

All you guys need to know is who has the better plan for getting more foreign exposure and back end recruiting possibilities through diplomacy. What's happened has happened and been resolved. Neither one of you bozos could have prevented it because it was not your final decision. We'll blame Imp for that!
