Ok that is a fantastic image. It's sad that he is likely to be elected again. But as my father said, better the turd you know then the turd you don't

I believe it's "better the devil you know than the one you don't" but your version works just as well! I think that's what a lot of people are going to do. I don't think it'll really matter who's better. Romney hasn't done much mass media like the president. I think that might be an angle for the Republicans for two reasons. One is they don't have the campaign funds they used to. And, two, I think they might come out and say "look at all the money Obama is spending. Aren't we in a down economy? We Republicans are being frugal and sensible." I'm thinking they'll use that to say they're concerned about the economy so they're not going to spend as much. Who really knows.

I think I'd have to agree with you on that point. Think about it. What political party or candidate would allow the opposition to get away with making them look bad and not respond at all. They've got some kind of strategy that's not too clear yet. Like you said, who really knows for sure.

This brings up some interesting questions. I would say I would have to agree with both of you. I believe these things are just a ruse to keep the Dems guessing. It is pretty smart when you think about it.

Heh. This is why I support a voting system based on income and property taxes.

Fah. They just didn't crack down hard enough on the proles. More steel, less circuses.
Dunno, it just seems like common sense to me. Government is the act of taking money from people and using it to benefit said people by spending it on things that are better done as a whole than as parts. Ex. National Defense, interstate transportation systems, monetary creation..... if you don't pay into the system, I don't see why you should have any say in it, since politics is essentially just deciding how the money is spent.
Not terribly doable, but my main beef with American politics (aside from, yknow, everything), is that over 50% of the populace doesn't pay anything but a state sales tax. Yeah, maybe you paying sales tax should let you vote on a state level, but if you don't pay the Fed any money why should you have a say in what it does?
My conclusion: tax everyone.

I usually try to do that. Make sense I mean But yeah, in the States if you don't make a certain amount of money you don't pay taxes, a principle I have nothing wrong with; the government shouldn't take financial resources from those who barely have enough to live on in the first place. I don't have anything against the poor and downtrodden, but I fail to see why they should have a say in how the money of other people is spent. Also, though there are many genuinely destitute persons even in a 'first-world' country like the United States, from what I know of those who don't pay taxes it seems like our cut-off for "you don't have enough money for us to take some from you" is abnormally high. I know, and am good friends with, multiple persons who have nice cars, the latest games for their new playstation, and ridiculously nice plasma TVs, and yet don't pay a scrap of income tax. Bollocks and cockswallop says I.

I don't see why the US just doesn't have a federal value added tax. It would solve a lot of their problems such as over-consumption and would tax those who spend more, but tax everyone fairly...
